The marvel of Peru or four o'clock Flower (Mirabilis jalapa), is the most commonly grown ornamental species of Mirabilis Plant. Mirabilis in Latin means wonderful and Jalapa is the state capital of Veracruz in Mexico.
The plant is shrub-like and spreading, with ovate leaf shape. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and opens in the afternoon (hence the "four o'clock" name) until morning. They come in various colours such as pink, red, white, yellow or sometimes bicoloured.
