About Epaulettes

Also known as: 肩章, エポレット

Ornamental shoulder pads seen on many Military Uniforms. Typically seen in soldiers from the Imperial era (1600s - 1800s). Frequently depicted with a Fringe Trim. The term is derived from a French word for "little shoulders".

For the rectangular strips without fringe trim that indicate a certain rank or division, see Shoulder Boards. For plain cloth tabs, see Plain Epaulettes.
