About Buddha'S Temptation (Food)

Also known as: 佛跳墙, 仏跳牆, ぶつ跳牆, 福寿全

Buddha's Temptation, also known by its literal translation "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall", is a famous dish from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China. This dish was developed during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty by Zheng Chunfa, the owner of the Juchun Garden restaurant in Fuzhou.

It is a rich soup made using many ingredients, including different meats, with a laborious process that requires multiple days. The name alludes to the dish's supposed ability to tempt even vegetarian Buddhist monks to eat it.
