Badtz-Maru or Bad Badtz-Maru is a Sanrio character created in 1993 by Hisato Inoue, based on a penguin with spiky hair. His name is a play on the Japanese words ばつ ("X") and 丸 ("O") as in cross and circle. He is a member of the Hapidanbui.
His birthday is April 1st.
