About Eternity (Marvel)

An abstract entity from the Marvel universe. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, Eternity first appeared in Strange Tales #138 (Aug. 1965). He is the brother of Infinity (Marvel), Oblivion (Marvel), and Death (Marvel).

Eternity represents time and is the embodiment of the Marvel universe along with his twin sister, Infinity (Marvel). However, throughout the multiverse, each universe is represented by a different Eternity and Infinity, which are all actually part of their true multiversal counterparts that represent the whole Marvel multiverse, namely the Seventh and Eighth Cosmos.

As the embodiment of the universe, Eternity is nigh-omniscient, nigh-ominipresent and possesses nigh-omnipotent cosmic powers with limitless control over time, space, matter, energy and reality. Multiversal Eternity possesses these same powers and resides in a realm beyond all time and space, transcending all of reality. Thanos ranked Eternity above all other abstract beings, equal to Infinity and only below The Living Tribunal.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Eternity first appeared in Thor: Love And Thunder where he is approached by Gorr The God Butcher after the latter became the first person to reach Eternity in his own realm.
